MH-c808m review
Hi, I’m Jeff. I’ve seen a lot of equipment reviews by people who just bought whatever it is they are reviewing. This review is different. I’ve been using my MH-C808m battery charger since 2008, virtually every week. I’ve had several other chargers before this one, but none as good.
The MH-C808m does cost more than many other chargers out there, but it is worth it. One major reason is the deep conditioning cycle that drains and recharges batteries using sophisticated electronics. I have resurrected many batteries that appeared to be dead by using this mode.
The Maha MH-C808m also has a “soft” mode that more gently charges a battery. it takes longer, but you are supposed to be able to charge the batter more times. I can’t say I put serial numbers on my batteries to count how many times I charge them, but I usually use the soft mode and have charged my batteries for years.
Another feature I love is that you can mix and match the batteries being charged. It charges AAA, AA, C and D batteries and you can do any combination at the same time.
The display shows you the progress of the battery’s charge, and alerts you when it is done.
Mechanically, the design is well thought-out. The contacts still work perfectly after over two years of frequent use. It’s just a good design that works.
One thing I don’t like is that it doesn’t charge 9 volt batteries. I only use a few of those, but it would be nice if the MH-C808m recharged them as well.
Bottom line: I can recommend this unit highly. It has performed consistently for years, and shows no signs of wear. They can be hard to find in retail stores, but you can usually get them on Amazon and sometimes on eBay they come up for sale at a bargain price.
